There’s no argument at all (Domino — Van Morrison, 1970)

On Nov. 14, 1970, Van Morrison’s “Domino” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #85. The song was the lead track to Morrison’s fourth album His Band and the Street Choir, which paid homage to the American R&B that inspired and influenced him as a teen growing up in Belfast, Ireland.

“Domino” was the first of three singles released from the LP (the other two being “Blue Money” and “Call Me Up in Dreamland”). The song is said to be a tribute to New Orleans R&B legend Fats Domino.

The single would reach #9, surpassing “Brown Eyed Girl” which hit #10 in 1967. “Domino” remains Morrison’s highest charting single.
